‘Plein Air’ Painting Workshop with Artist George Harding

Saturday 31 August 2024

Bethlem Gallery
11am-3pm

Join ‘plein air’ and portrait artist George Harding for a workshop exploring the ‘plein air’ painting technique. The French term ‘plein air’ means out of doors and refers to the practice of painting entire finished pictures outdoors.

George Harding said on his work “My plein air paintings are quick sketches that are about the enjoyment and enrichment of the natural world and improving my observational skills as a painter.”

In the workshop, George will first explain and demonstrate the technique, before working with you to help you with your own works, painting from the beautiful grounds of Bethlem Royal Hospital (weather permitting).

There will be a break for lunch from 12.30-1pm. All welcome and all materials provided but please bring your own lunch.
