Sage

Sage is an experienced portrait artist working in oil paints and drawing media. He makes his own paints and works on paper, linen, wood, aluminium and synthetic paper.

The attraction to portraiture started in childhood, as Sage mapped the world around him and the people in it. Later, this drawing practice developed into painting; through colour, he explores a person’s form, presence and psychology.

Sage has a degree in Fine Art, as well as qualifications in Art History, with a working background as a Lead Community Artist. He spent several years as a Support Worker and Childminder in social care roles, supporting people with differences comparable to his own; he is autistic and so this defines how he approaches and resolves his portraiture.

His portraits are held in private collections in the U.S.A., Australia and the U.K., including his group drawing ‘portraits for NHS heroes’ which is on permanent display at Hackney hospital.

He welcomes commissions through his Instagram account, available by clicking the Instagram icon below.
