‘Can I feel my way in order to create something authentic and true? I hope to give space to my instinct, move out of my head and into my body, working with a focus on physicality and materials.’
This residency space forms the final part of Sarah Carpenter’s commission exploring metacognition (thinking about thinking, knowing about knowing, becoming aware of one’s awareness) as part of Bethlem Gallery’s Mental Health and Justice Project, funded by Wellcome. Sarah will be using responses from her digital work, Performing Metacognition in the residency space to think through ideas about control and agency.
