The three artists presented in this exhibition – Kim, Fatma Durmush and Angelique – produce artwork daily for sheer joy and as an outlet. They take figurative works and scenes and develop stories, foregrounding colour – specifically the colour purple. Their quiet, persistent, moving work spans decades and explores the natural environment and ecology of relationships that we inhabit.

Kim creates scenes from nature or abstract images using a Fauvist palette featuring bold, complementary colours. Durmush draws, paints and collages people, fusing poetic titles with her distinctive depictions of figures in bright colours. Angelique, trained in textiles, develops intricate designs from natural imagery such as leaves and one drawing or work can take weeks.
