23rd September – 16th October 2015
Open 10am – 5pm, Wednesday – Friday, including first and last Saturdays of the month
Around the kitchen table is an exhibition of works by patients and staff of Bethlem Royal Hospital and Bethlem Gallery artists.
The kitchen table can be a shared space for meeting, talking, doing and exploring, the work in this exhibition brings together perspectives on this communal space; how we use it, and what it means to us. In the centre of the gallery, sits a table made by the Bethlem Wood Library for the exhibition from wood sourced from the hospital grounds. This table will be activated over the course of the exhibition with workshops, discussions, lunches and things to do, collectively or alone.
Opening 23 September 3 – 5pm
4pm – For the opening event, artist and poet Dan Duggan will read some extracts from Luxury of the Dispossessed, his book of derelicts, poems from purgatory and stories of incarceration on psychiatric wards under the provisions of The Mental Health act.
