Our Statement in Support of Trans Communities

The Bethlem Gallery team and trustee board stands firmly with transgender communities. We see, value and welcome you. We are committed to ensuring that our spaces remain welcoming and safe for everyone, regardless of gender identity. Any discriminatory behaviour is not tolerated.  

Our mission is to work with artists to lead change in health and society, and we strive to advocate for and with transgender and queer people and communities in our work. The role of art and artists is wide ranging and vital. Art and artists can make visible and value different perspectives, experiences and complexities, cultivating empathy and upholding human rights.   

We support and contribute to the work of artists and our health and culture sector colleagues in advocating for trans rights. We want a world where there is understanding, equity, respect and care for all. We all have a responsibility in making that world possible.
