Founders Award Winners 2023
Bethlem Gallery is delighted to share here the works of the 2024 Founders Prize Award Winners: Loveth Onyegbunwa and Stephen Donoghue.
Every year as part of the Bethlem Art Fair, we invite a judge to select three artists for the Founders Prize, highlighting artists who are submitting work for the first time. Awardees receive a prize of £100 and are invited to be part of an exhibition later in 2025.
This year we asked Beth Elliott to judge the award. Beth former Bethlem Gallery Director and Trustee of ActionSpace, who work with learning disabled artists across London as a Creative Hub, Supported Studio and Artist Development Agency.
Beth said: “It was such an honour to judge the art fair this year. In 2008 we opened the Bethlem Art Fair for the first time, little did we know that 16 years later it would still be going strong. The central ethos of this exhibition remains strong to this day as a space to celebrate the many brilliant artists at the heart of Bethlem Gallery, and create a platform for new and emerging talent. Congratulations to everyone who contributes their unique creations to this show. It was not an easy task to choose the winners and runners up from such a rich and diverse selection.
Beth also awarded three artists a Highly Commended Award, which includes an invitation to be part of the 2025 exhibition. The selected artists are Kerry Charlton O’Connor, H. P-Tan, and Zeynep Dagli.
Many of these works are still for sale in the Bethlem Art Fair which runs until 11 January 2025.
Thanks to Beth Elliott for judging the Founders Award, and congratulations to Loveth Onyegbunwa and Stephen Donoghue and the Highly Commended artists too.
