Founders Award Winners 2020

Bethlem Gallery is delighted to share here the works of the 2020 Founders Prize Award Winners: Sophie L., Carlos Cortes and Yasmine Martinez.

Every year as part of the Annual Art Fair, we invite a judge to select three artists for the Founders Prize, highlighting artists who are submitting work for the first time. Winners receive a prize of £100.

This year we invited Bethlem Gallery Trustee and Wellcome Collection Curator Shamita Sharmacharja to judge the award. Shamita says:

‘I was delighted to be asked to select three artists for the Founders’ Award. However, I found it a tough choice to make. I was impressed by the breadth and quality of the work. I chose Sophia L., Yasmine Martinez and Carlos Cortes’ work owing to their clever use of media, acute observation, honesty and humour.’
