Deborah Myers
An extremely accomplished painter Debbie’s skilled and expressive brush strokes simultaneously conjure up personal narratives and scenery that hold a universal appeal. Her sophisticated body of work has predominantly been amassed over the past few years. The discipline of painting acts as a grounding, positive force in her life.
“It’s my peace in time, there and then. The paintings are a form of tranquillity for me. The calm before the storm. I have been painting for twelve years. I like flowers in their surroundings and am drawn to bright colours. I like to wear beautiful things, and I like to paint beautiful things. I paint from memory and sometimes from books. I used to watch a painter on the TV as a child, watching him build up the layers on the canvas, he inspired me. I use colour to make a feeling, and love to paint nature. If I have had a difficult night I look through the window and see the blossom tree in the morning, I think everything’s ok and God is still there.”
