Unknown, and Unknowable?
Bethlem Gallery
28th July – 19th August 2011
Unknown, and Unknowable? is an exhibition of rarely-seen anonymous artworks from Bethlem Museum’s historic reserve collection. These are works by patients of past generations whose names and creative intentions are lost to posterity, and whose artistic visions survive only in their output. The exhibition bears witness to that loss.
These works are the only fragments of their stories that are left to us; our only window onto their lives.
