Founders Award Exhibition 2022
Long Gallery, Maudsley Hospital
12 December 2022 – 19 March 2023
Open 8am – 6pm
Every year Bethlem Gallery runs an art fair for artists connected to South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust services. We invite a special guest to select the work of three artists who have recently joined the gallery.
The artists exhibiting in this showcase, Bullgrab, Lorna Rose, Jules Cunningham and Lucy, were selected by Jen Wong, Head of Programming at Science Gallery London.
The works are on display in Maudsley Hospital’s Long Gallery. Please scroll down for more information about the artists and their works.
Bullgrab
Bullgrab paints and draws from life and photographs. Speaking about her work she picks out the lion, appreciating its simultaneous grace and danger. She sketches and paints as often as she can. ‘Enjoying the painting you forget the outside world’.
Lorna Rose
Lorna’s work appears to explore nature and relationships through her use of materials and colours. There are depictions of oversized insects and abstract figuration in dreamlike natural landscapes. The imaginary landscapes are made from abstract organic shapes that appear to lead the viewer to the otherside.
Jules Cunningham
Jules is an artist and service user based in south London. They make work in different mediums including drawing, printmaking, and performance. They perform nationally and internationally as a dancer and collaborate on performance projects with other artists.
Lucy
Lucy is a realist oil painter based in Croydon, near London, UK. Born in Bejing, China, she painted in oils from 12 years old, and sold copies of Western paintings from her late teens via her mentor in Beijing.
