Bethlem History Walk and Art Talk

Saturday 18 November, 2023

Bethlem Gallery and Museum of the Mind
11am-12:15pm

What was here before?

Join Bethlem Gallery and the Museum of the Mind for an invigorating walk around the stunning grounds of the Bethlem Royal Hospital. On this walk we will be asking ‘What was here before?’ and finding out about the history of the hospital from when it moved in 1930. Is Monks Orchard anything to do with monks? What was this iron fence for?

Strong footwear is advised at it may be muddy in places and be prepared for rain or shine! Concession tickets are available for SLaM Service users, people over 60, students, people referred by social prescribing link workers, people on jobseekers allowance and people registered as disabled. Assistants for people registered as disabled go free. For a paid event, we regret that tickets cannot be refunded unless the event is cancelled.

Walks begin at 11am and last approximately 1 hour and start at Bethlem Gallery. We will set off promptly so please arrive a little early to be sure not to miss us.

After the walk, join us in the gallery for a brief talk about our current ceramics exhibition, Keith Clapson: Touching The Surface. Entry to the gallery is free. The GUTS cafe will also be selling hot drinks and snacks in the gallery foyer.
