Art production onsite at the hospital has a long and illustrious history. The bespoke studios within Occupational Therapy at the Bethlem are open most days of the week and provide a space where hospital residents can access a range of materials, equipment and expertise. People are encouraged to pursue their own, individual projects supported by artist-staff. The studio is a relaxed and social space where people can relish the artistic process without being overly preoccupied with the artistic product.

Saturday Studio is a programme for patients who have left in-patient care and wish to develop their art practice. It is open to all former patients of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The project is a collaboration between the Bethlem Gallery and the Bethlem Royal Hospital’s Occupational Therapy Arts Studios.
