Join us for walks around the stunning grounds of the Bethlem Royal Hospital with artists Matthew and Sue this summer.

Rhododendron & Fern walk

Join us for a walk around the stunning grounds of the Bethlem Royal Hospital with artist Matthew. As well as seeing the rhododendrons and ferns, you will also see foxgloves which have bee used in the past to treat heart defects and murmurs. You might see dragonflys and event the rare meadow pipit.

Strong footwear is advised at it may be muddy in places and be prepared for rain or shine!

Walks last approximately 1 hour and start in the Bethlem Gallery.

What was here before?

Join us for a walk around the stunning grounds of the Bethlem Royal Hospital with artist Matthew. On this walk we will be asking ‘What was here before?’ and finding out about the history of the hospital from when it moved in 1930. Is Monks Orchard anything to do with monks? What was this iron fence for?

We will also be looking at what wildlife was here before by discovering remains and tracking animal activity.

Strong footwear is advised at it may be muddy in places and be prepared for rain or shine!

Blackberry picking walks

Join us for a blackberry picking walk around the stunning grounds of the Bethlem Royal Hospital with artist Matthew. Along the way we may also find a few raspberrys! Please bring some large containers with you to collect your blackberries as we walk, talk and eat.

Strong footwear is advised at it may be muddy in places and be prepared for rain or shine!
