Season’s greetings from the Bethlem Gallery!
What a year we have had,
What a year we have had, we can hardly believe that this time last year we were packing our meagre belongings and preparing ourselves for the most significant year in the life of the gallery to date.
The new building has been a game changer for us and the artists we work with. From the overnight media success of the opening and the inspiring speech by our Patron Grayson Perry,
to many enjoyable, surprising and brilliant moments in our programme this year where people have come together to experience, make and talk about art.
We would like to thank the artists for their inspiring work and everyone who has supported our journey from our board members, advisors, volunteers, staff, partnership organisations and visitors. A huge thank you to our funders the Maudsley Charity
and South London and Maudsely NHS Foundation Trust,
who have made all of this possible and believe in the importance of supporting the arts in mental health environments.
We do hope you spend a very enjoyable festive season, and hope to see you in 2016!
A final word from our Patron…
“I was deeply moved and inspired by the art on display, and the space that has been made for this work. Art should not be viewed just as a visual culture but as an essential human process of self exploration and communication. The work the gallery and museum do is of vital importance and will create a legacy for the understanding of mental health for years to come. For me art is obsession, voyage of discovery and therapy all rolled into one. I look forward to what is in store for us at the Gallery and Museum in 2016, please join us.”
– Grayson Perry
Warm wishes for 2016!
